Atromitos Race Sifnos

ANNOUNCEMENT

     

ANNOUNCEMENT 

 The sports organization fearlessevents announces and organizes the 3nd ATROMITOS ULTRA,  under the following terms:

  1. PLACE – DATE OF EVENT

The race will be held in the Schinias Olympic Rowing and Canoeing Centre on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th of April 2023.

  1. STARTING TIME OF RACES

The starting time of the 12 – hour and the 24 – hour race is on Saturday 8th of April at 9:00 a.m. to the side of the secretariat of the Rowing and Canoeing Centre. held during that period.

  1. DISTANCES

12 hours (with in – between official record keeping of performances in: 6hrs, 50km, 100km)

24 hours (with in – between official record keeping of performances in: 6hrs, 12hrs, 50km, 100km, 100miles)

  1. AGE OF PARTICIPANTS

Men and women who are 18 years old on the day of the race  are entitled to participate in all the above races.

 

  1. RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE RACES

Athletes who are 18 years old and have completed their subscription in time are entitled to participate.

CAUTION: Due to the adversity / difficulty of the race, the runners assume FULL RESPONSIBILITY in participating and must have been examined by a doctor prior to their participation.

  1. ENROLLING/REGISTRATION IN THE RACES

Athletes can  register in the race  via the corresponding link in the following e – address   www.fearlessevents.gr

  1. ROUTE

The 12 – hour and 24 – hour races will be held in a certified  asphalt, flat, circular 2 – km route to the side of the timing towers of the Rowing and Canoeing Centre.

  1. AID STATIONS - ATHLETES CATERING

Runners can find catering and support (e.g. clothing) in places specified and delimited by the organizing. At those places the organizing will have put benches with water, energy supplements, electrolytes, fruit, nuts, soft drinks e.t.c. and also benches which the athletes’ supporting crews can use. Aid of any sort in an area different from the delimited one brings about the immediate disqualification of the athlete (that receives it).

Apart from the benches provided by the organizing, the 24 – hour athletes can get help from their personal bench which will be appointed by the organizing in draws. Aid of any sort in areas different from the delimited ones brings about the immediate disqualification of the athlete.

The 24 – hour athletes are also entitled to 1 meal during the race which will available to them from 20:00 p.m. till 22:00 p.m.

All athletes are entitled to a post-race snack / meal.

  1. ELECTRONIC TIMING – RESULTS

A timing company has undertaken the electronic timing of the race together with delivering results. For that, all participant runners must have the timing chip on them, which they will receive together with their number from the race secretariat.

  1. PERSONAL ITEMS & APPAREL

There will be a delimited area where athletes can  place their sacks. It is highly recommended that the athlete’s number is written on the sacks and that they do not carry valuables inside. The 24 – hour athletes will also have a personal bench at their disposal.

  1. AWARDS / TROPHIES

Athletes that complete 60km in the 12 – hour race will receive a (commemorative) medal.

The first three men and the first three women will receive extra trophies – awards.

The prize giving for the first three will be held only if four people (at least) manage to complete the race in their category.

Athletes that complete 120km in the 24 – hour race will receive a (commemorative) medal.

There will be no age category / classification.

  1. COST OF PARTICIPATION

 

For the 12 – hour race: 60 euros.

For the 24 – hour race: 80 euros.

The aforementioned prices are about the standard participation packages which include:

Timing chip

(Commemorative) medal (see paragr. 11. AWARDS / TROPHIES)

 

  1. GENERAL PROVISIONS

13.1 All participants must be present in the race Secretariat to the side of the starting point up to 2 hours before the starting time of their race and receive their participation package (number, chip e.t.c.)

13.2 The runners’ numbers must be worn in an up-front spot and only by the subscribed person.

13.3 Anything that is not prescribed by the announcement will be arranged by the technical manager/director of the race according to the rules.

 

  1. MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS

All the participants sign a form according to which they take full responsibility to see to all the medical exams necessary to participate in an ultra race. They will also have to complete a relevant questionnaire that will be sent to them electronically according to the current directions of the General Secretariat of Sports as necessary precautions against COVID 19.

 

  1. MEDICAL COVERAGE

The organizing, together with Volunteering Rescue Teams, will take all the necessary precautions for the safety of the athletes and the first aid provision in case it is needed.

  1. POSTPONING – CANCELLATION OF THE RACE

In the event of extreme conditions or restrictions placed by the state, the race will probably be postponed or cancelled. In this case, athletes are entitled to either transfer their participation for the forthcoming Atromitos Ultra or be fully refunded, apart from the bank commission (2€)

 

 

Information

12 hours
The 12-hour race (2km circular flat asphalt road), a different kind of race, in which the athlete is called to
cover the longest possible distance in 12 hours. A preparatory race for the 24-hour one, and it is
considered a necessary first attempt for someone who intends to take part in races that last more than 20
hours in the future. This race is appropriate for sufficing for participation in other ultra distance races,
experimenting and trying different running parameters that will later be applied in less controlled races.
